Who We Are

Fiona Lyons

Fiona Lyons is a consultant for Wentworth Training Ltd in Sydney, which was founded in 1989 and has a reputation for inspirational, innovative and interactive workshops. Wentworth training specializes in the areas of Sales, Negotiation, Time Management, Presentation Skills and Customer Relationships to name a few.

Fiona is a qualified trainer/facilitator, with a superb pedigree in sales, presenting, customer service excellence and persuasive communication.

Fiona has worked with companies across a broad commercial spectrum and has a unique ability to understand and grasp individual corporate cultures and environments quickly, building rapport and utilising that insight to deliver powerful workshops.

Prior to joining Wentworth Training Fiona spent 10 years working in the media and as a Radio Journalist in Scotland. Her experience includes; print, broadcast and online products and her roles have ranged from writing national research reports for the radio industry in America to selling and negotiating major multi million dollar deals on behalf of Austereo’s 10 national radio stations in Australia.

Fiona’s career started in Edinburgh and moved to America in the mid 90’s. This has given her a wide understanding of the issues facing not just media businesses, but also a global perspective of sectors such as the Entertainment, IT, Finance, Automotive and Telecommunications industries.

She spent over 3 years working as a National Radio Representative in New York & Los Angeles looking after the ABC radio stations before joining Yahoo in Sydney as an Agency Business Development Manager. A move back into the  world of radio followed as she became a Senior Account Manager for Austereo where Fiona looked after key clients including News Ltd, Diageo, Amex, Colgate, PAG, Optus, Kimberly Clarke and Caltex.

Training Experience:

During her time in America, Fiona was responsible for the induction and coordinating the training & development of new staff. At Yahoo she ran a training program designed to introduce Australian Media & Advertising agencies to the world of the Internet and at Austereo was responsible for the training of the support staff of the Network Sales Team in Sydney.

Fiona’s Achievements and Recent Projects Include:

  • Facilitated a 3 day event for a national based agency, to establish common goals, values and visions for the coming year.
  • Coaching a range of individuals to develop competencies in Client Service & Account Management, Time management, Negotiation and Sales Skills.
  • Selected as Key Facilitator for the Advertising Federation of Australia to conduct industry standard courses in Persuasive Communication.
  • Developed integrated sales, negotiation and presentation program for major media companies in Sydney & Melbourne.
  • Conducted Open Courses for cross industry sectors in Customer Service, Managing Your Time and Difficult People.
  • Achieving 10 out 10 ratings for courses on a regular basis for workshops delivered.
  • Design of new workshops in “Writing Documents that Sell” and “Forecasting Sales and a Pipeline of Business”.
  • Training skills audit and assessment for newly merged company.
  • Working with businesses to fine tune presentation & delivery skills before major pitches.
  • Set up Quality Service Team responsible for identifying training and development needs of new staff for business in Los Angeles.
