Corporate Team Building Activities and Exercises

We have a number of great corporate team building activities, exercises and games that can be used for improving the effectiveness of your organisation:

Shelf Build Exercise – Exercise replicates natural staff turnover in any team and forces people to adapt to change.

The team has to build a set of interlocking shelves as quickly as possible, in competition with the other teams. After the first “build off” we will have a de-brief about how the exercise was completed, how people communicated and how ideas and suggestions were utilised.

The second part of the team building activity now starts whereby members of each team are moved or swapped with other teams and the new teams have time to plan before another build off. This replicates natural staff turnover in any team and forces people to adapt to change, learn form other people, coach others and attempt to improve performance whilst all this change is going on.

Corporate Maze – Exercise encourages real teamwork and co-operation in organisations.

This team building exercise is one of the best for encouraging real teamwork, using the collective memory, good planning and feedback. The activity involves getting everyone in the team from one side of a maze to the other, whilst avoiding “bad squares” set by and only known to the trainer.

River Crossing – Great for improving team communication

The team has to cross an imaginary “river” using only a set of wooden stepping stones. This requires good team communication, often some ingenuity and co-ordination.

Balance Beam – Great for improving planning and team co-ordination.

The team has to mount and dismount a wooden beam without either end of the beam touching the ground.  This requires planning, teamwork and good co-ordination.

Star Wars – Encourages lateral thinking in your organisation.

This is a problem solving team building exercise that requires a change of thinking in order to solve it. It is a great way to illustrate how a paradigm shift can solve a pressing problem.

Red/Blue dilemma – Improves overall team effectiveness

A great corporate team building game for illustrating the pro’s and cons of collaboration and competition. Does the team play for itself or for the greater good, but perhaps gain less?

Key Punch – Improves your organisations ability to adapt to change

A corporate team building activity that shows how the team can improve by assessing what they are doing wrong (and right) and adapting and changing existing processes.
